- 1 qt. pared, sliced tart apples
- 1 c. white or brown sugar or 1/2 and 1/2
- 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 c. butter
- 1 egg, well beaten
- 1/2 c. flour
- few grains salt
- 1 tsp. baking powder
Directions

1Place apples in a shallow 7 x 11-inch baking dish.

2Sprinkle half the sugar and cinnamon over the apples.

3Cream butter and rest of sugar until light.

4Add egg and beat well.

5Stir in sifted dry ingredients.

6Drop spoonfuls of dough over apples and spread with spatula.

7Bake 30 minutes at 375°.

8Serve with cream or ice cream.
