- 2 1/4 c. flour
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1/4 c. molasses
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 1/2 tsp. ground ginger
- 1 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp. ground cloves
- 1/4 c. sugar
Directions

1Combine half of the flour, brown sugar, shortening, molasses, egg, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon and cloves.

2Beat with an electric mixer until thoroughly combined.

3Beat in remaining flour. Roll into 1-inch dough balls in the sugar.

4Place 2-inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.

5Bake at 375° for 8 to 10 minutes until tops are set and crackled.
