- 1 1/2 c. blanched almonds
- 2 c. California walnut halves
- 1 c. sugar
- dash of salt
- 2 stiffly beaten egg whites
- 1/2 c. (1 stick) butter
Directions

1Toast nuts in slow oven (325°) until light brown.

2Fold sugar and salt into egg whites.

3Beat until stiff peaks form, then fold in nuts.

4Melt butter in a 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 1-inch pan.

5Spread nut mixture over butter.

6Bake at 325° for about 30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes, or until nuts are coated with a brown coating and no butter is left in pan.

7Cool.
