Sweet Bread Dough

Ingredients

  • 2 pkg. active dry yeast
  • 1/2 c. warm water (110~ to 115~)
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1 1/2 c. milk
  • 1/2 c. margarine or butter
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 6 1/2 to 7 c. flour

Directions

    Stir yeast into warm water and 1 teaspoon sugar.

    In a large bowl, heat milk, margarine, 1/2 cup sugar and salt to about 110°. Add yeast.

    Beat in about 2 cups flour and add eggs (room temperature).

    Beat in as much remaining flour as possible. Continue to add remainder gradually, kneading 8 to 10 minutes. Place dough in a large greased bowl.

    Cover and let rise in warm place (85°) until doubled.

    Punch down.

    Turn out on a lightly floured surface.

    May be used for cinnamon rolls, caramel rolls, buns or 2 loaves of bread.
