- 1/2 c. butter (1/4 lb.)
- 1 c. granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 c. cornmeal (yellow)
- 1 1/2 c. flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 c. milk
Directions

1Cream butter and sugar together by stirring around until soft and combined.

2Break the eggs into the butter and sugar and beat together with a large spoon.

3Beat well.

4Add the cornmeal, then sift together the flour, baking powder and salt and stir in alternating with the milk.

5Beat after each addition; beat a little flour and milk until all ingredients are combined.

6Turn into a greased baking pan about 2 to 2 1/2 inches deep.

7Bake at 375° for about 30 to 40 minutes.

8Test for doneness.
