Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. round steak (about 1 inch thick)
  • 1/4 c. flour
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 3 Tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 1 large rib celery, sliced
  • 1/4 lb. (generous) mushrooms
  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 (8 oz.) can stewed tomatoes
  • 1/4 tsp. dried crushed basil
  • 1/4 tsp. dried crushed oregano
  • 1/4 tsp. dried crushed thyme

    Trim excess fat from steak.

    Pound flour into the meat. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.

    In a large skillet heat oil.

    Add steak and brown meat on both sides over medium heat.

    Place steak in baking dish, about 12 x 8 x 2-inch.
