- 2 lb. round steak
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 1/2 c. onion
- 1/2 c. celery, chopped
- 1/2 c. carrots, chopped
- 1 1/2 c. canned tomatoes
Directions

1Combine flour, salt and pepper.

2Sprinkle over both sides; pound into steak.

3Cut into serving pieces.

4Melt shortening in pan over medium heat.

5Brown meat well on both sides.

6Combine vegetables and spread over meat.

7Cover; reduce heat to low and simmer until meat is very tender, approximately 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Remove meat and thicken remaining sauce.

8Pour over steak.
