Ingredients
- 1 c. sugar
- 3/4 c. light Karo syrup
- 2/3 c. water
- 1 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Butter an 8 x 8 x 2-inch pan.

2In a 2-quart saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, water, cornstarch, butter and salt.

3Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, to 256° on candy thermometer (above 200° on meat thermometer) or until firm.

4Remove from heat and add vanilla.

5Pour into pan.

6When cool enough, pull taffy until satiny and hard.

7Butter hands if taffy is sticky.

8Put into long strings.

9Cut into pieces and wrap.

10Serves 6.
