Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. light corn syrup
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 2/3 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    In saucepan, combine all ingredients except vanilla.

    Cook to soft crack stage (270°).

    Pour onto buttered platter.

    As candy cools, lift edges toward center.

    When cool enough to handle, add vanilla and pull, using the fingertips and stretching taffy until it becomes white.

    Pull into a long rope and cut with scissors while soft or crack into pieces after it hardens.

    Makes 3/4 pound.
