- 4 c. flour
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 1/4 c. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 2/3 c. shortening
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/4 c. sweet milk
- 1 c. currants (may substitute raisins)
Directions

1Mix first 5 ingredients together.

2Cut shortening into dry ingredients until coarse.

3Beat eggs well and add to sweet milk. Add currants to coarse mixture together with milk mixture.

4Mix well and put out on floured baking sheet.

5Roll out to 1 1/2-inch thickness.

6Cut into desired shape.

7Place on greased cookie sheet; dot each biscuit with generous piece of butter.

8Sprinkle with sugar.

9Bake at 375° for 10 to 15 minutes or until a golden brown.
