- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 1/2 c. milk
Directions

1Cream the shortening.

2Gradually add 1 cup sugar, beating well at medium speed of an electric mixer. Add egg and vanilla. Beat well. Combine flour and baking powder. Add to creamed mixture alternating with milk.

3Cover and chill.

4Work with half of the dough at a time.

5Store remainder in refrigerator. Roll dough to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut and place cookies on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375° for 6 to 8 minutes.

6Yields 3 dozen.
