- 1 1/4 lb. beef stew meat, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1 to 2 Tbsp. cooking oil
- 1/4 c. chopped onion
- 1 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1 c. water
- 1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes with liquid, cut up
- 1 tsp. ground cumin
- 1 tsp. salt
Directions

1In a large skillet or Dutch oven, brown beef, adding oil.

2If desired, drain.

3Add onion, garlic powder, pepper and water; bring to a boil.

4Reduce heat, cover and simmer 45 minutes or until meat is tender.

5Add tomatoes and cumin.

6Reduce heat and cook until done.

7Makes 1 quart, 4 servings.
