- 1 c. yellow cornmeal
- 1/2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. buttermilk (sour milk or half sour cream and milk)
- 1/2 c. sweet milk
- 1 egg
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. soda
- 1/4 c. melted shortening
Directions

1Mix thoroughly the cornmeal, flour and salt, then add balance of ingredients without mixing.

2Grease muffin pans or cornstick pans well and heat.

3Stir mixture thoroughly and pour into the hot pan.

4Bake at 450° until done.

5The bread will be moist and brown on the bottom.
