- 1 c. butter, softened
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 c. whole wheat flour
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 pkg. chocolate
- 1/2 c. chopped nuts
Directions

1Preheat oven to 350°.

2Grease 9 x 13-inch pan.

3Mix butter, sugar, egg yolks and vanilla.

4Stir in flour and salt.

5Press evenly in bottom of pan.

6Bake until delicately browned, 25 to 35 minutes (crust will be soft).

7Remove from oven; immediately sprinkle chocolate chips on top.

8Let stand until soft; spread evenly.

9Sprinkle with nuts.

10While warm, cut into 2 x 1 1/2-inch bars.

11Yields 32 bars.
