Ingredients

  • 1 c. butter, softened to room temperature
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 7/8 c. all-purpose flour
  • 6 milk chocolate bars (1.65 oz. each)
  • 1 c. chopped, toasted almonds or pecans

Directions

    In mixing bowl, cream together butter and brown sugar until light-colored and fluffy.

    Add egg yolk and vanilla.

    Gradually beat in flour until smooth and blended.

    (Dough will be thick.) Spread evenly on 14 x 16-inch baking pan.

    Bake at 350° for 15 minutes or until crust is golden brown and puffy.

    Remove from oven.

    Arrange unwrapped chocolate bars evenly over top of crust. Let stand 5 minutes to soften.

    Spread chocolate evenly over crust. Sprinkle with chopped nuts.

    Cool and cut into squares. Yield: 40 squares.
