Ingredients

  • 3/4 c. butter or margarine
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 (6 oz.) pkg. butterscotch bits
  • 1/4 c. light corn syrup
  • 1 Tbsp. water
  • toasted almonds
  • 2 Tbsp. shortening
  • 1/4 tsp. salt

Directions

    Blend together butter, brown sugar, egg yolk, vanilla and salt.

    Stir in flour; put in pan and bake 20 minutes at 350° until browned.

    Cool.

    Combine shortening, brown sugar, corn syrup, water and salt in saucepan.

    Heat and stir until smooth.

    Spread on top of baked dough.

    Sprinkle on almonds.

    Let set and cut into sticks 2 x 1-inch.
