Tomato Gravy

Ingredients

  • 2 heaping Tbsp. flour
  • 6 Tbsp. grease
  • salt and pepper
  • 3 c. water
  • 6 to 8 large tomatoes, peeled and diced

Directions

    Brown flour in bacon grease; it doesn't need to be very dark. Add water, tomatoes, salt and pepper.

    Simmer in iron skillet about 45 minutes.

    Add more water if necessary.

    This gravy is delicious over grits or with biscuits.

    I have used canned tomatoes so it doesn't have to cook as long.
