Ingredients

  • 3 c. tomato juice (85~ to 100~)
  • 1/4 c. honey
  • 4 c. flour (whole wheat, white or 2 c. each)
  • 1/4 c. oil (olive oil is good with tomato, but vegetable oil is fine)
  • 2 Tbsp. Italian seasoning
  • 4 Tbsp. Parmesan cheese
  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 Tbsp. salt (optional)
  • 4 c. flour
  • 2 Tbsp. basil
  • 2 c. or more additional flour (for kneading dough)
  • 1/4 c. water

Directions

    Measure the tomato juice and pour into large bowl.

    Sprinkle yeast over juice and stir to dissolve.

    Add honey.

    Beat in one egg.

    Add the first 4 cups of flour, one cup at a time, stirring briskly after each addition.

    After adding flour, beat the mixture 100 strokes, until very smooth.

    Cover bowl and let dough rest 45 minutes in warm place.
