- 10 oz. can tomato puree
- 10 oz. can tomato juice
- 1 c. granulated brown sugar
- 8 slices day-old white bread
- 1/2 c. butter
Directions

1Bring puree, juice and sugar to a boil.

2Simmer 10 minutes. Trim crusts from bread; cut bread into 1-inch squares.

3Melt butter, then dip squares quickly into butter and place in baking dish.

4Pour tomato mixture over squares.

5Do not stir.

6Push down lightly with fork until just coated.

7Bake at 350° for 25 minutes.
