Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 None onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 2 tsp ground allspice
  • 2 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 9 oz lean ground lamb
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 6 sheets phyllo dough
  • 6 tbsp (3/4 stick) butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup Greek-style yogurt
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped fresh mint

Directions

  1. 1
Heat the oil in a large skillet on medium heat. Cook the onion and garlic, stirring, until the onion softens. Add the spices; cook, stirring, until fragrant. Add the ground lamb; cook, stirring until lightly browned. Stir in the lemon juice; cool.
  2. 2
Preheat the oven to 425°F. Oil a baking pan and line with parchment paper.
  3. 3
Brush 1 sheet of phyllo with butter and top with two more sheets, brushing each with butter. Cut the layered sheets into 8 rectangles. Press 1 tbsp of lamb mixture into a log shape along one long end of each rectangle. Roll the phyllo over the filling; fold in the sides then roll up to form a log. Repeat to make a total of 16 logs.
  4. 4
Place logs, about 1 1/2 inches apart, on prepared pan. Brush with the remaining butter. Bake for 15 mins or until lightly browned.
  5. 5
For the mint yogurt, combine yogurt and mint in a small bowl. Serve the warm phyllo rolls with mint yogurt.
