Ingredients
- 3 lb. turnip greens
- 1 lb. turnips, peeled (optional)
- 1 qt. water
- 1/4 lb. seasoning meat (fatback, lean salt pork, ham hock or smoked turkey pieces)
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
Directions

1Wash greens thoroughly several times.

2Throw away any yellow leaves or heavy stems.

3Cook meat covered with water (about 20 minutes).

4Cut the greens into small pieces.

5Add greens and bring to a hard boil.

6Cover and lower heat and cook slowly for 2 hours or until tender.

7Add peeled and diced turnips on top of greens for 20 minutes.

8Serves 4 to 6.
