- 1 pkg. caramels (14 oz.)
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1/2 c. melted butter
- 1 box German chocolate cake mix
- 1 c. chopped pecans
- 1 pkg. chocolate chips (12 oz.)
Directions

1Combine caramels and 1/4 cup milk in heavy saucepan.

2Cook over low heat, stirring until caramels are melted.

3Set aside. Combine butter, dry cake mix, nuts and 1/4 cup milk and mix until crumbly.

4Press half of mixture into greased 9 x 13-inch pan. Bake at 325° for 6 minutes.

5Remove from oven and sprinkle with chocolate chips.

6Spread caramel mixture over chocolate chips. Return pan to oven and bake at 325° for 15 to 18 minutes.

7Cool and cut in squares.

8Do not bake longer than 18 minutes or bars will be hard and dry.
