- 1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix
- 3/4 c. butter, softened
- 1 (14 oz.) pkg. caramels
- 1/2 c. evaporated milk
- 1 c. chopped pecans
- 1 c. chocolate chips
Directions

1Combine cake mix and butter (preparing mix according to package directions).

2Pour 1/2 of batter into a greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan.

3Bake at 350° for 5 to 6 minutes or until cake puffs up and is still gooey.

4Unwrap caramels.

5Combine caramels and milk in top of double boiler and cook until caramels melt.

6Pour caramel mixture over baked top layer.

7Add nuts and chocolate chips over melted caramels.

8Pour remaining batter over all.

9Bake at 350° for 15 to 20 minutes.

10Frost with whipped cream.
