  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 c. shortening
  • 3 to 4 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 1/4 c. lukewarm water
  • 3 1/2 to 4 c. sifted all-purpose flour

    Scald milk, then set aside to cool to a lukewarm temperature. Sprinkle yeast in lukewarm water.
