  • 3/4 cups vegetable shortening butter flavor
  • 1 1/4 cup sugar brown, firmly packed
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 each eggs
  • 1 3/4 cup flour, all-purpose
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 cup chocolate chips semi-sweet
  • 1 cup pecans coarsely chopped, optional

    Heat oven to 375F (190C).

    Combine crisco, brown sugar, milk, and vanilla in large bowl.

    Beat at medium speed of electric mixer until well blended.

    Beat in egg.

    Combine flour, salt, and baking soda.

    Mix into creamed mixture at low speed until just blended.

    Stir in chocolate chips and nuts.

    Drop rounded tablespoonfuls of dough 3 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheet.

    Bake at 375F (190C) for 8 to 10 minutes for chewy cookies (they will look light and moist-do not overbake), 11 to 13 minutes for crisp cookies.
