  • 1 1/2 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 Tbsp. uncooked rice
  • 2 tsp. plus 2 Tbsp. dried, minced onions, divided
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. ground pepper
  • 1 (28 oz.) can whole peeled tomatoes
  • 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
  • 1/2 c. vinegar
  • 1/4 to 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 1 medium head cabbage

Directions

    In large bowl, combine beef, water, eggs, rice, 2 teaspoons of the minced onion, salt and pepper.

    Mix thoroughly with hands and form into golf ball size balls.
