  • 4 medium apples, peeled and sliced, about 4 cups/1L Safeway 1 lb For $0.99 thru 02/09
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup margarine, softened
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup finely-rolled Premium Plus Salted Crackers, (about 25 crackers)
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 tsp. Magic Baking Powder
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup milk

Directions

    COMBINE apple slices and granulated sugar and spoon into greased 8-inch (2L/20cm) square pan.

    Set aside.

    CREAM margarine and brown sugar.

    Beat in egg.

    COMBINE cracker crumbs, flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

    Add to creamed mixture with milk, beating until well blended.

    SPREAD over apples in pan.

    BAKE at 350F (180C) for about 35 minutes.

    Serve warm, apple side up.
