- 1/2 c. walnut halves
- 1/4 c butter or margarine, melted
- 1/2 c. firmly packed light brown sugar
- pastry for 2-crust 9-inch pie, unbaked
- 1/2 c. granulated sugar
- 2 1/2 c. (one 1-lb. 4 oz. can) apples slices, drained
- 2 Tbsp. all purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. ground nutmeg
Directions

1Arrange nuts, flat sides up, in butter in deep 9-inch pie pan.

2Pat brown sugar over nuts and cover with a thick circle or pastry, 1/8 inch thick.

3Trim edges.

4Mix remaining ingredients and spoon into pastry.

5Cover with top crust.

6Bake in pre-heated moderate over (350°) for about 40 minutes.

7Cool for 5 minutes. Serve warm, plain or with whipped cream or ice cream.
