- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. flour
- 1 c. sugar
- 3 eggs, beaten separately
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 4 Tbsp. cold water
Directions

1Beat yolks with sugar.

2Add water and flavorings.

3Sift dry ingredients and add to mixture.

4Beat well 5 minutes.

5Fold in well beaten egg whites.

6Mix 3 tablespoons butter with 1 cup brown sugar and add pineapple.

7Put pineapple mixture in the bottom of the pan.

8Put batter in an 8-inch square pan.

9Bake 40 minutes in a moderate oven.

10The cake alone (without pineapple mixture) can be used for shortcake.
