  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 3 to 4 cooking apples, peeled, cored and sliced
  • 1 9-inch deep-dish pie crust, unbaked
  • 2 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 stick butter

    Preheat oven to 425°. In a small bowl, combine 1/2 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons flour, nutmeg and cinnamon. Sprinkle over apples, tossing to coat well. Spoon apples into pie crust. Drizzle with lemon juice. In a bowl, combine 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup flour; cut in butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over apples. Slide pie into a brown paper bag and fold end over twice. Fasten with paper clips and place on a cookie sheet. Bake 1 hour. Serves 6-8.
