- 2 c. sugar
- 2 c. white syrup
- 2 c. heavy cream
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 4 Tbsp. butter
- 4 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Combine sugar, syrup, cream and salt in heavy large pan. Place over low heat and stir until sugar dissolves.

2Cook to 232° (very soft ball), stirring occasionally.

3Add butter a little at a time to prevent scorching.

4Test often in cold water (240°) to determine the consistency desired in the finished caramels. Remove from heat and add vanilla.

5Pour into buttered 9 x 13-inch pan.
