- 1 1/2 c. dried navy beans
- 1 (3 lb.) meaty ham bone
- 3 qt. water
- 1 1/2 c. chopped carrots
- 1 1/2 c. chopped potatoes
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
Directions

1Rinse and soak beans overnight.

2Combine beans, bone and water in large Dutch oven.

3Bring to a boil.

4Reduce heat; cover and simmer 3 to 3 1/2 hours.

5Remove ham and bone.

6Chop ham and add ham and remaining ingredients to beans.

7Simmer 30 minutes.
