  • 1 1/2 c. dried navy beans
  • 1 (3 lb.) meaty ham bone
  • 3 qt. water
  • 1 1/2 c. chopped carrots
  • 1 1/2 c. chopped potatoes
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper

Directions

    Rinse and soak beans overnight.

    Combine beans, bone and water in large Dutch oven.

    Bring to a boil.

    Reduce heat; cover and simmer 3 to 3 1/2 hours.

    Remove ham and bone.
  6. 6
    Chop ham and add ham and remaining ingredients to beans.

    Simmer 30 minutes.
