Ingredients

  • 4 to 5 lb. hamburger or ground round
  • 1 to 2 qt. water
  • 4 lb. potatoes
  • 1 lb. carrots
  • 1 head cabbage
  • 2 qt. tomatoes with juice
  • 2 qt. tomato juice
  • 3 (16 oz.) cans peas, drained
  • 3 (16 oz.) cans corn, drained
  • 2 large onions, chopped
  • 1 qt. green beans (canned)
  • 1 1/2 green peppers
  • 1 c. uncooked barley
  • 2 c. cooked macaroni
  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions

    Cook hamburger; drain, rinse and drain again.

    Add water and rest of ingredients, except macaroni.

    Simmer until potatoes and carrots are tender, but firm.

    Add macaroni and simmer for 30 minutes.
