- 2 c. flour
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1/2 c. water
- 1 lb. Monterey Jack cheese
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
Directions

1Put 1 cup flour and shortening in large bowl.

2Add egg and mix together.

3Add sugar and salt to water, then add second cup flour. Mix thoroughly and chill about 1 hour before rolling.

4Cut cheese into sticks about 3 x 1/2-inch.

5When dough is easily handled, roll on floured surface, then cut into strips about 1/2-inch wide. Wind strips around cheese as if binding a finger.

6Be careful to cover cheese completely.

7Pinch ends together.

8Put back in refrigerator several hours before cooking.

9This can be stored in the refrigerator for several days (or in freezer in an airtight container for several months) before cooking.
