Walnut Coffee Cake

Ingredients
- 2 c. sifted flour
- 1 3/4 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/3 c. ground walnuts
- 1 egg
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 2/3 c. melted butter, cooled
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 3 Tbsp. light brown sugar, sifted
Directions

1Sift dry ingredients.

2Beat egg, buttermilk, butter and vanilla.

3Add flour mixture, beating until smooth.

4Butter well a 2 1/2-quart tube pan.

5Coat with a mixture of 1/3 cup ground walnuts and 3 tablespoons of sifted light brown sugar.

6Pour batter in prepared pan.

7Bake at 350° for approximately 1 hour. Let cake cool in pan 10 minutes and then turn out onto a wire rack and let cool completely.

8Serves 12.
