- 125 g butter, softened
- 1/4 cup icing sugar, unsifted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
- 1 cup flour, sifted
- 1 pinch ground nutmeg
- 1 pinch salt
- 3/4 cup finely chopped walnuts
Directions

1Preheat oven to 150°C / 300°F.

2Cream butter and icing sugar until light and fluffy.

3Stir in vanilla essence, flour, nutmeg, salt and walnuts, to create a soft dough.

4Roll the dough into 2 cm balls.

5Place them about 3cm apart on a lightly greased baking tray, pressing each ball with the heel of your hand, to a thickness of about 1 cm.

6Bake, uncovered, for 20 minutes, or until the bottoms are golden brown.

7Cool on a wire rack.
