Water Valley Apple Pie

  • 6 apples, peeled and sliced (Fugi, Gala or Granny Smith)
  • 5 slices white bread, crust cut off and discarded and cut into strips
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. self-rising flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 c. butter, melted

Directions

    Cut apples; sprinkle with some of the sugar, a dash of cinnamon and nutmeg. Cut bread up and put on top of apples. Mix egg, sugar, butter and flour. Pour over bread, making sure to cover each piece.

    Cook at 350° for 30 minutes. You may have to cover top so not to overbrown. Enjoy.
