Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. warm water
  • 2 pkg. active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 c. lukewarm milk
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 c. shortening, very soft
  • about 7 to 7 1/2 c. flour, at least 1/2 whole wheat

    Mix first 7 ingredients well; use rotary beater.

    Stir in flour.

    Cover with damp cloth; let rise until double.

    Punch down; let rise again.

    Divide into rolls.

    Let rise until double.

    Bake 25 minutes at 400°.
