- 3 Tablespoons Yeast
- 3 Tablespoons Sugar
- 3 cups Warm Water
- 3-1/2 Tablespoons Melted Shortening (or Butter)
- 1 Tablespoon Salt
- 3 Tablespoons Milk
- 6 cups All-purpose Flour
Directions

1Put the first three ingredients (yeast, sugar and warm water) in a bowl to activate the yeast.

2After about ten minutes, add the shortening, salt and milk. Then add one cup of flour at a time (6-7 cups, depending on humidity).

3Knead bread and roll into a ball.

4Put the dough in a greased bowl for one hour.

5Punch down, divide into 3 parts, and roll into loaves. Place in greased bread tins, and let rise again for about 45 minutes.

6Bake at 350F for about 30-40 minutes.

7It never hurts to lightly oil or butter the tops when they come out of the oven.
