  • 3 pkg. Red Star instant blend dry yeast
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. salt
  • 2 1/2 c. water
  • 1 1/2 c. milk
  • 1/3 c. shortening

Directions

    Preheat oven to 400°.

    In a large mixing bowl, combine 5 cups of flour, yeast, sugar and salt.

    Mix well.

    In saucepan, heat water, milk and shortening until warm (120° to 130°).

    Shortening does not need to melt.

    Add to flour mixture.

    Blend at low speed until moistened.

    Beat 3 minutes at medium speed.
