- 2 1/4 c. white sugar
- 1/2 c. sour cream
- 1/4 c. milk
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1 Tbsp. light corn syrup
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. chopped nuts
- 1/3 c. chopped candied cherries (not maraschino cherries)
Directions

1Combine first 6 ingredients and stir over moderate heat until sugar dissolves and mixture comes to a boil.

2Boil to 238° (soft ball stage).

3Remove from heat and allow to cool until 110°, about 1 hour.

4Add vanilla and beat until mixture just begins to lose its gloss.

5Quickly stir in nuts and cherries.

6Turn into buttered 8 x 8-inch pan. Cool and cut.
