- 1 Tbsp. dry yeast
- 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 1/4 c. lukewarm water
- 5 c. whole wheat flour
- 1/2 c. dry milk
- 2 c. warm water
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 3 Tbsp. bacon fat or other shortening
- 6 Tbsp. honey
Directions

1Dissolve yeast and brown sugar in 1/4 cup lukewarm water.

2Mix the flour and dry milk together.

3Mix the 2 cups of water, salt, shortening and honey.

4Now combine the yeast and flour mixtures. Add the liquids and stir well.

5Put the dough into 2 greased 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 2 1/2-inch bread pans.

6Let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.

7Bake at 400° for about 45 minutes.
