- 2 c. whole wheat flour
- 3/4 c. packed brown sugar or honey
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. soda
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 1/2 c. buttermilk
- 1/2 c. raisins (optional)
- 1/2 c. pecans or walnuts (optional)
Directions

1Combine the first 5 ingredients in a large mixing bowl.

2Add egg and buttermilk.

3Mix well.

4Stir in raisins and nuts, if desired.

5Spoon into a greased and floured loaf pan.

6Bake at 350° for about 35 to 40 minutes.
