  • 2 c. whole wheat flour
  • 3/4 c. packed brown sugar or honey
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 1/2 c. raisins (optional)
  • 1/2 c. pecans or walnuts (optional)

Directions

    Combine the first 5 ingredients in a large mixing bowl.

    Add egg and buttermilk.

    Mix well.

    Stir in raisins and nuts, if desired.

    Spoon into a greased and floured loaf pan.

    Bake at 350° for about 35 to 40 minutes.
