Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. cider vinegar
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1 can (1 lb.) sauerkraut
  • 1 medium onion, chopped (1/2 c.)
  • 1 green pepper, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1 tsp. celery seed

Directions

    Combine vinegar, sugar, vegetable oil, salt and pepper in saucepan, bring to a boil, stirring to dissolve sugar.

    Turn sauerkraut into strainer, rinse under running water and drain well.

    Place in medium size bowl.

    Pour hot vinegar mixture over sauerkraut.

    Add onion, green pepper and garlic salt.

    Cover and chill 4 hours.

    Makes 6 to 8 servings.
