Ingredients

  • 3 to 3 1/2 lb. ham pieces
  • 1 lb. sweet Italian sausage
  • 4 medium potatoes, quartered
  • 1 small cabbage, coarsely chopped
  • 2 large onions, sliced
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 1/4 c. parsley
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. thyme

Directions

    Simmer ham and sausage in 3 1/2 quarts of water.

    Cook for 1 to 1 1/2 hours until tender.

    Remove ham and sausage and cut up. Return to water.

    Add remaining ingredients and simmer until vegetables are tender.
