Ingredients

  • 1/4 c. vinegar
  • 1 1/2 c. water
  • 1/4 c. granulated sugar
  • 4 tsp. prepared mustard
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • 2 thick slices lemon
  • 1 medium sliced onion
  • 1/2 c. margarine
  • 4 c. (2-inch strips) cooked beef (leftover roast, such as chuck, sirloin tip, etc.)
  • 1 c. prepared chili sauce (tomato)
  • 3 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • kaiser or hamburger rolls

Directions

    Early in the day, combine vinegar, water, sugar, mustard, pepper, salt, cayenne pepper, lemon, onion and margarine in a Dutch oven.

    Simmer, uncovered, for 20 minutes.

    Remove lemon slices.

    Add meat, chili sauce and Worcestershire sauce. Refrigerate.
