- 5 cups flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 1-2/3 tbsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 cups eggs
- 1-3/4 cup milk
- 1 tbsp. shortening
- 1 tbsp. vanilla
Directions

1Mix dry ingredients.

2Work in shortening with fingers.

3Add milk and eggs.

4Stir well, then knead on floured surface.

5Roll 1/2 inch thick.

6Cut with doughnut cutter.

7Fry in hot oil (375-400F).

8Drain.

9Finished doughnuts can be sugared with confectioner's sugar or a sugar and cinnamon mixture.
