Ingredients
- 2 c. milk (low temperature)
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. salt
- 2 pkg. yeast
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 5 to 6 c. sifted all-purpose flour
Directions

1Bring milk to a boil. Add shortening, sugar and salt. Cool to lukewarm.

2Sprinkle yeast over warm water. After 5 minutes, stir and combine with cooled milk mixture.

3Add flour gradually. Beat well after each addition. Add enough flour to make a soft dough. Turn out on flour dusted board.

4Cover with mixing bowl and let rest 10 minutes.

5Knead about 10 minutes until smooth.

6Place dough in a warm, greased bowl. Brush surface lightly with shortening.

7Cover and let rise in warm place (80° to 85°) or place in refrigerator until time desired for rolls.
