Ingredients
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 1/4 c. butter or shortening
- 1 c. milk
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
Directions

1First scald milk.

2Cool to lukewarm.

3Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup warm water.

4Mix sugar, salt and shortening.

5Add warm milk and mix. Add beaten egg. Add yeast and flour. Mix well.

6Cover.

7Let rise for 1 1/2 hours.

8Punch down to put on floured board.

9Pinch off into rolls. Place in a greased baking dish.

10Let rise again about 1 1/2 hours. Bake in a 250° oven for 1/2 hour.

11Turn up to 300° and bake until brown. Brush top with butter.
