Ingredients

  • 7 lb. cucumbers
  • 2 c. lime
  • 1 c. salt
  • 1/2 box mixed pickling spices
  • 2 qt. vinegar
  • 6 lb. sugar
  • 1/2 c. alum

Directions

    Cut cucumbers into thin slices.

    Wash and soak in lime water overnight.

    Wash well and soak in salt water four hours.
  4. 4
    Drain and soak in cold water two hours.
  5. 5
    Drain again and bring to a full rolling boil in alum water.

    Drain and rinse.

    Cook 30 minutes in vinegar, spices and sugar.

    Pack either hot or cold.
